Application to Purchase Land or Property

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) sells land and homes to people who do not already own land or property. Use this service to apply to buy an NHC lot or house.
Who can apply
You can apply if you do not already own land or property. People who already own land or a home are not eligible.
You can apply on your own, or with a co-applicant, such as a partner or family member who will live in the home with you.
What you can apply for
You can apply to buy:
- a 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom NHC home
- a lot to build on (low-income lots are usually 3,000 to 4,000 square feet)
Homes are built in timber, wall, timber-and-wall, or steel frame. You can say which type you prefer.
NHC may offer you a property in a different parish from the one you ask for, depending on what is available.
What you need before you start
You will need:
- your National Registration Number (NRN)
- your TAMIS number
- contact details we can reach you on
- details of your employer, salary, and pay period
- the number of adults and children in your household, and the children's ages
- details of anyone in the household who has a disability
- details of any other income in your household, such as maintenance, alimony, or a second job
You will also need one of the following, depending on how you are paying:
- a bank statement, if you are paying in cash
- a mortgage certificate, if you are using a mortgage or loan
If you already have land and want NHC to build on it, and you are a tenant of that land, you will also need a letter of permission from your landlord.
Cost
There is no application fee to apply to the National Housing Corporation (NHC) for the purchase of land or property.
The price of the home or lot depends on the development. NHC will tell you the price when they make you an offer.
How long does it take?
Completing an application form typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.
The length of time it takes to receive an offer from the NHC varies and depends on several factors, including eligibility, the availability of land or housing, and the specific requirements for the development.
What happens after you apply?
Once your application has been submitted, the NHC will acknowledge receipt of your application. You should receive an acknowledgement letter within one week confirming that your application has been received and is being processed.
Applications are maintained in the NHC database and are processed and assessed in accordance with the NHC policies and procedures. Eligible applicants will be submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval when suitable land or properties becomes available.
Applicants will be contacted regarding the outcome of their applications or when the appropriate property is available.
